Coil Pot
I recently created a coil pot in class. I started my pot by rolling out a slab of clay, then, I cut it into a medium sized circle to create the base. After the base was made, I started rolling coils of clay. Each coil had to be slipped, scored, and attached separately. After the pot was 10 inches tall, I fired it. When it came out of the kiln, I glazed the coil pot. Then I fired it a second time.
Mug
This is a picture of a mug that I made in ceramics class. It is white with pink writing around the mug. To make this mug I rolled out a slab of clay and used a cylinder to create its cylinder shape. After, I created the handle by rolling and shaping the clay in to the thickness that I desired, then I slipped and scored the ends and the points where the handle meets the cylinder. I used slip to smooth the edges of the handle. When I was finished creating the shape that I wanted, I decorated my mug. Using a needle tool I wrote the word "love" on the side on my mug, I then painted on white scrafito and fired my mug. After it was fired, I used pink paint and painted in the "love" on the front of it. Finally, I finished my mug by firing it for the second time.
